Rick Howe installed carpets for 10 years and had previously owned his own carpet company but the business failed because he simply couldn’t compete with the bigger companies in the industry. Howe enjoyed being self-employed. He made his own schedule and could be at his kids games, but he wanted to be even more successful so he started exploring franchise opportunities.
He started his search for a business to own on Google, and discovered Franchise.com. Once on Franchise.com, Howe easily searched many diverse franchise and business opportunities. Helping to make Howe’s decision easier was the fact that he has a friend that owns a very successful Chem-Dry with 8 vans. “My goal is to be where he is in 5 years,” explained Howe.

Building Their Business at Their Own Pace
“We moved away from California to Idaho for 10 years. Now, we have moved back to California to open our business,” said Howe. Their franchise location will be opening for business next week.
With Chem-Dry, Howe has the opportunity to build his business at his own pace. For now, Howe has one van which he will work from while his wife will work in their home office answering phone calls.
