British Swim School began with national swimmer in Britain Rita Goldberg, who left a career in education to pursue a dream of opening her own swim school. She opened the first one in the basement of a house in England in 1981. Through that effort, she developed British Swim School’s trademark gentle and fun teaching method.
After ten years of success, Rita brought her school to the United States with her first located in Coral Springs, Florida. Now, 30 years later, British Swim School is thriving and continues to expand. Rita is still the driving force behind the company and is a member of the US Swim School Association, having served on the board for three years.
With drowning the leading cause of death in children under age 5, British Swim School provides an essential service to communities around the world. We teach water survival skills that are an essential part of a child’s development that can save lives. British Swim brings the joy and confidence of swimming to all ages in a fun and unintimidating way.
At British Swim, swimming skills come second to survival skills - the most important being the back float, which allows you to rest, breathe and call for help.
There is no pool construction necessary. We help you find an existing indoor location so you can offer year-round classes without the added hassle and cost of building a pool.
