What does a Dutch Bros Coffee Franchise Cost?

If you're interested in opening a Dutch Bros Coffee drive-thru, new franchisee applicants must have a minimum net worth of $500,000, including $150,000 in cash. There's a $30,000 franchise fee upfront, and royalty fees are 5% of gross sales or $1,300 a month, whichever is greater. All franchisees must be employees of Dutch Bros Coffee first and demonstrate their desire to own their own location and qualify.

Dutch Bros Coffee was founded in 1992 by two brothers, Dane and Travis Boersma, in Grants Pass, OR. After growing up in the dairy business, the brothers branched out for better-smelling pastures; one that smelled of delicious, roasted coffee beans.

Today, the company has more than 379 locations in the Western United States and is expanding quickly. Currently, the locations are temporarily drive-thru only and sell new locations to qualified Dutch Bros Coffee employees only.

Find a Purpose

Coffee is what they do, but the coffee shop is so much more. They make it a point to maintain positive relations with the community at large and give regularly to four causes annually.

After Travis's brother and co-founder Dane Boersma passed away from Lou Gehrig’s disease in 2009, all Dutch Bros. drive-through locations donate one day’s profits in May to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. A fundraiser they titled "Drink One for Dane."

Additionally, Dutch Bros holds a fundraiser called “Buck for Kids Day”. One day each September, Dutch Bros Coffee donates $1 from every drink sold to local youth-oriented non-profit organizations.

Since 2014, Dutch Bros Coffee has supported breast care awareness and has made more than $1.6 million in donations.

To help fight food insecurity in local communities, each Valentine's Day the coffee shops donate $1 from every drink sold to local organizations.
